Juan Manuel Gómez


Gómez started studying with his father, before continuing at the conservatory in San Sebastián and taking advanced courses with V. Zarzo, I. James, J. Molnar, E. Terwilliger, M. Hötzel, etc.

He has been principal horn for groups such as Conjunto Barroco, Banda Municipal de Bilbao, Sarasate Pamplona, Orquesta de Euskadi, Orquesta Castilla-León, O.S.C.O, ONE, Orquesta de Granada, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and has played under conductors like L. Maazel and C. Abbado.

He has recorded the Concerto for Horn and Orchestra by L. Aramburu and has premiered the concertos for horn and orchestra Edetano by García Montalt and Lauro by Muñoz, as well as John Williams’ Concerto for Horn and Orchestra conducted by Maestro Mena.

Gómez has taught at the conservatories in Vitoria, Leioa and Getxo and at the Orquestra Jove de Castelló. He performs regularly in chamber music ensembles, playing with soloists such as Belkin, Rosin, Ros, Mendive, Santos de la Iglesia and Streicher.

A member of B.O.S. since 1984 and soloist since 1989. He is the soloist horn at OBC since the 2010-11 season.
