Raúl García


García began studying violin with Pedro León and Juan Llinares, before completing his studies at Escuela Superior de Música in Madrid where he received the Pablo Sarasate National Prize. He went on to take advanced courses at the University of Wisconsin with V. Manoogian and in Manchester with Y. Zivoni. He recently received tutoring from Rainer Sonne, first violin at the Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin.

García has won prizes at the Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales de España, the Hiles Medal at the RNCM’s Symphony Orchestra, the Joan Massiá National Violin Prize and the first prize at the Vila de Llanes International Competition.

He has been guest first violin for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, assistant first violin at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra, among others.

A member of OBC since 2003, he is currently assistant first violin.
